Animators chat conference 15 May (13:00 GMT)

Summary Notes

Attending: David Hoffman, Karen Showalter, Arturo Gonzalez, Romilio Hernandez and Inés Campanella

Unable to attend: Pieter Jansen, Zoe Young, Moreblessings Chidaushe

Appointments:

New Animation Model:

- David and Karen will draft a summary CA and GA job description, and a new paragraph for recruiting , and post it at the WIKI (http://wiki.ifiwatchnet.org/) within next week. Of course, all animators are invited to add and edit it. So, we hope to define the new animation model through the wiki.

- A group conformed by Soren, Sameer, Joy and Karen is working towards identifying the first round of general animator recruits. They should start after having the paragraph on recruiting.

Next Animator’s meetings:

- Virtual meetings will be maintained, as they are pretty useful to keep us working as a group, get regular updates, etc; though in a more flexible basis. We are keeping this online meetings each three weeks then, until the recruitment of new CAs moves forward and we all re-evaluate the need for this kind of conferences.

- Inés will be in charge of preparing the meeting schedule, ensuring chair rotation each time, reminding everybody on the online meetings, calling for agenda items and circulate them; and posting the meeting notes in the SA and WIKI

Site updates/ New tools:

- Migration from Action Apps (AA) to Drupal is finished!

- Arturo is preparing a user manual for the new site. Yu can check it in the front page of the wiki.

- The WIKI is up and running! . Arturo will draft a proposal to structure it, like a brief wiki user manual

- Regarding passwords: A new module is installed in Drupal, that allows to keep the same password in the WIKI than in IFIWATCHNET (so, your password and username for IFIWN should work in the wiki too). The WIKI is closed to members.

Some problems and their solutions: the old AA site was carrying some features in javascript to feed other members websites. The new rss feeds in Drupal have messed up some of this. ITeM team is working on it.

Old AA passwords aren't able to be migrated. But you can request a password change.

For later discussion, we will have to examine the fact of allowing the general public to create accounts if we want to post their contributed content to the site, in a moderated manner.
